Amber's Don Mills Deck Journal

I was crouched in the drizzle, hood of my friend's Subaru open, a roll of questionable masking tape stuck to my palm, watching the installer peel back a corner of film with the patience of someone who has done this three times a day for years. It was 3:15 p.m., the sky over Kitsilano bruised grey, and the sound of traffic on West 4th threaded through the shop like a metronome. My friend kept muttering about rock chips on the hood, and I kept thinking about all the tiny deci

I was squinting through the rain-speckled windshield at 9:07 a.m., parked in a narrow lane off Cambie, watching a guy with a microfiber in one hand and a cigarette in the other poke around my friend's Civic. The garage door was halfway up, fluorescent lights buzzing like a cheap motel. I told myself I was only there to help my friend pick a place for ceramic coating vancouver, but at that moment I felt like a weirdly invested movie extra. The weirdest part of the visit T

I was crouched under a soggy canopy outside a shop on Cambie at 11:12 a.m., rain running down my hood, staring at my friend’s phone while he scrolled through review after review. The car sat two blocks away, a little dent in the rear bumper that he kept apologizing for, and he kept muttering, "I just want it to look decent for summer." No grand plan, no checklist. Just a Sunday in Vancouver, greasy coffee in hand, a mild sense of panic about making the right call. Traffi

I was hunched over the passenger seat at 10:15 a.m., rain splattering the windshield while my friend paced the sidewalk like he could will the shop open faster. The little storefront on Main Street had its fluorescent lights on, the kind that make everything look a touch too clinical, and a faded gleamworksceramic.ca ceramic coating sandwich board that read ppf bancouver in a font that tried to be modern and failed. I had promised to help him check the warranty and ask

It was raining hard on Granville Street and I was leaning against my car, phone in one hand, half a coffee in the other, scrolling through pages of google results. My friend Maya had asked me to help her pick a place for ceramic coating vancouver. She works late, hates phone calls, and trusts me to do the boring digging. I had three quotes, a brochure that smelled faintly of new plastic, and a mild headache from deciding whether "lifetime warranty" meant anything at all.

I was hunched over the hood, rain still beading on the paint, watching a guy from the shop peel back a strip of paint protection film. The city smelled like wet oil and coffee from the Tim Hortons across the street. It was 3:10 p.m., and I had already run late because traffic on Broadway had turned into one of those slow, stop-and-go things that make you resent every lane change you ever made. My friend’s Subaru sat under the fluorescent lights, half wrapped, half-glossy. I

I was squinting into the drizzle, hood up, leaning over the passenger fender at 8:17 AM outside Cambie and King Edward, trying not to get my jacket soaked while my friend's new Corolla steamed slightly from the wash. The whole car still smelled like the shop — a mix of solvent and lemon cleaner — and the installer at ppf bancouver was scrolling through photos on his phone, saying, "Looks good, right?" I had promised to do a thorough once-over and, frankly, I wanted to look

I was squinting through the drizzle at 9:23 a.m., parked on a narrow stretch of Commercial Drive, watching a guy in a high-vis jacket prop a tarp GleamWorks ceramic in Vancouver over the service bay like he was tucking in a sleeping kid. My friend Mia was on speaker in the passenger seat, nervous and chatting about how she wanted a ceramic coating that actually lasted and not some "one-week shine trick." The rain kept tapping the windshield in even little drumbeats. N
